LMSR London Midland and Scottish Railway

Normally tagged the LMS this was the largest of the largest of the Big Four.  Its territory, mainly centred to the north and west of London, stretched from the far north of Scotland and north west Wales to Bournemouth (via the jiontly owned Somerset and Dorset line).  The principal constituent companies of the LMS are listed here, although numerous other companies were absorbed as well.
