The sucker punch!

Not some kind of fight at the Yeovil Town layout but a new bit of kit that will help the viewer and user experience.

Yes, guessed right, it's a vacuum cleaner.  Much under rated we are finding that a large open clubhouse tends to gather dust from one activity or another and this means running trains picking up dirt and grime and needing cleaning quite often.  We invested in a battery powered hand cleaner from a high street store which charges up via a mains charger.  The results are excellent with the filter becoming clogged with lots of dust each session (easily cleaned out).  A simple process of cleaning the track-way each week ensures the rolling stock works reliably and much longer between cleaning.

After re-fitting the ZTC hand controllers last Wednesday we found that all the cases of dedicated wagons and coaches plus locomotives were not in their metal cases - we had forgotten that we transferred them to plastic stock boxes... doh!

We have now delivered the stock and next Wednesday will see the re-population of the fiddle yard with test trains.  What we did find out was that there is sensitive spot near a fiddle yard throat where the light coaches of the inter-city 125 derail every now and then.  We will try all other test trains and if found to be the light old 125 coaches then we will add weight.

Much of the work now will concentrate on our open day in June with buildings being re-established and the junction track-work built from scratch.
