Warley, NEC Exhibition 2008 Report
When does a hobby take over your life? When you take your wife away to the Warley NEX exhibition for the weekend. Well it's not that bad folks as Olivia is a keen modeller too... In fact at Warley this year she joined the 'N' Gauge Society and is thus far impressed at the standard of help they give.
Saturday was to say the least so packed we struggled to get what is in effect most of these photos. Sunday was much more relaxed as it took a litle time for crowds to build up.
There follows many images and comments which are my take on the show so don't take them too literaly.
Stone walls abounded this year. I was particularly interested in this as the Yeovil Model Railway Group's Summit layout will need a fair amount. These ones seemed to be like one of those rice crispy bars where gravel picies are bonded with glue rather than toffee!
These walls must represent many hours of modelling just to help give this pleasing effect.
There were also layouts with grey walls of a similar construction so there must be quite some skill base in the UK for minature dry stone walling experts...
This close up shows how you can add to the effect by adding the common found crack in the wall and places where the wall has fallen away. There are some parts of this layout that have such faults which have been exploited by the 7mm sheep and they have escaped track side!
